Competition Terms & Conditions - Read Carefully
- You must be under 14 years of age at the close of this competition, 30th June, 2008.
- Entries must be forwarded in hard copy to Auntie Lynn at PO BOX 5414, Q Super Centre, Mermaid Waters, Qld 4218, Australia, and received by close of business 30th June, 2008.
- The winner will be announced on The Magical Scarecrows website by 14th December, 2008.
- The winner will have their chapter published in "The Magical Scarecrows - Book Four" with full writing credit and photo, and they will receive ten free copies of Book Four.
- Entrants into the competition must read Books One and Two of "The Magical Scarecrows" to familiarise themselves with the story so far and the style of writing.
- Additional information on Book Three is limited due to commercial confidentiality but we can tell you in Book Three we meet the American Magical Scarecrow whose name is "Hitch". Hitch lives at Tippi Hedren's big cat sanctuary just outside of Los Angeles called "Shambala". The American Magical Scarecrow has been named Hitch by Tippi who is the first human to learn the Magical Scarecrows' secret. In Book Three (without wanting to give too much away) Croowz and Race C Rows (from Books One and Two) find out about Hitch and join him in a special mission to help rescue some big cats from a terrible fate so they can live out their days in Tippi's sanctuary.
- In Book Four we are going to meet the Spanish Magical Scarecrow, who will be known as "Scarecrow in Boots" or "Boots" for short (because he wears really super shiny black boots). Race C Rows hears that Boots has come to life in Spain and has a really dangerous challenge to face in trying to save a cowardly bull from entering the bull fighting arena in Madrid. Race finds out about this in Chapter One. In Chapter Two, and Chapter Two is the Chapter for your competition, Race C tries to find a way to get to Spain while Boots is trying to find and befriend the cowardly bull. You are not to resolve the challenge, as that will be done in Chapters Three and Four. In Chapter Two, your competition chapter, you only have to find a way for Race C to get to Spain, and find a way for Boots to befriend the cowardly bull.
- Your competition chapter must be between 3,000 and 4,000 words long.
- It is preferred that your entry be sent in on plain white A4 or letter-sized paper, typed in double line spacing, but hand written entries will be considered if the hand writing is clear enough for Auntie Lynn to read.
- You may use characters that have appeared in earlier books of "The Magical Scarecrows" if they are relevant to your story line.
- You may invent new characters if they are needed in your story line provided you do not introduce more than four new characters in total.
- Auntie Lynn has the sole discretion over entries and choosing the winning entry thereto; she also reserves the right not to choose any entry as the winner if none are deemed appropriate. No further correspondence will be entered into.
- Auntie Lynn will edit the winning entry so it is in a suitable format to fit with the flow of Book Four.
- Please note: we will not be able to return your entry so if you would like to keep your story please make a photocopy of it before you send it to us.
