Catherine Chapman came into Lynn’s life in 2007. While reading bedtime stories to her children in 1990, Catherine had a vision. That night she sat down and began to write short stories of fruit and vegetable people and their adventures. The characters of each fruit and vegetable came to life as a means to encourage children to include these foods more often in their diets. Nutritional information and simple recipes were to be added at the end of each story so that children could enjoy them in fun and interesting ways. She read her stories in the classrooms of her children and soon word of the fruit and vegetable people spread across local primary schools Once her children were no longer in primary schools the stories found themselves in a box in the family garage. There they sat for eighteen years. After removalists uncovered the box, Catherine decided to have the stories rewritten and brought up to date. She searched the internet until she stumbled across Lynn Santer, creator of “The Magical Scarecrows”. Upon reading Lynn’s story Catherine felt a connection and promptly made contact. The two then came together to unite their characters in a series of adventures breathing life into a shared dream… after all, who better for fruit and vegetable people to adventure with than the Magical Scarecrows who protect their crops? Through a recipe of new ideas, imagination and excitement The Magical Scarecrows Garden was born.
